It’s An Art World
Red (Hong Yi) is an artist in Shanghai who creates images with anything but the conventional paint + brush technique. Instead she utilizes everyday objects such as rocks, ketchup, milk, salt, and seeds, etc. has her medium for creation. In her most recent work, she uses coffee and a coffee cup to create an image of Taiwanese musician, Jay Chou.
This March, Jakarta or Bust is doing a Rickshaw Run; racing an auto rickshaw over 1800 miles (3000km) of South East Asian jungle, islands, and ocean. The race, which will include some 25 other rickshaw-driving teams of adventure-loving crazy people, is organized by The Adventurists, and — the best part — it’s all for charity!
In addition, they are also raising money via an Art Auction with works donated from artists such as Audrey Kawasaki, Olly Moss, Julie West and many more. All proceeds (minus airfare, insurance, deposits, visas, gear, etc.) will be donated to Birdlife International and Action Against Hunger.

Mondo announced that it will be releasing movie posters to coincide with this year’s Academy Awards. Four nominated films for 2011 will receive the Mondo treatment, two of which will be “Hugo” by Kevin Tong and “Rango” by Tom Whalen. “Hugo” is a 24″ x 36″ Screenprint and will have a regular (Ed of 295, $45) and a variant (Ed of 100, $65). “Rango” is an 18″ x 24″ Screenrprint, has an edition of 270, and cost $40.
The other 2 posters will be revealed later on next week and all four posters will go on sale Sunday, February 26th during the Academy Awards HERE.
