“The Exorcist” by N.E. 18″ x 24″ 8-layer Screenprint on 140lb Arches Hot Press Watercolor w/ deckled edges and signed in pencil by Director William Friedkin. Ed of 25 S/N. $150 (variant)
“About a year ago I was commissioned to create a poster to commemorate the movie The Exorcist. The 40th anniversary was coming up and it was going to be a nice thing to celebrate the film.
The Exorcist, while being one of the scariest films of all time, is ultimately about a priest’s crisis of faith, guilt, and ability to fight and a very personal spiritual battle. I tried to convey this emotion and intensity with contrast and oppressive shadows in the illustration. By using a more stark composition, I hope to achieve a singular or at least striking image.
In the end, the print was approved and given the go ahead to be printed by the film’s director William Friedkin. I was floored when he also generously offered to sign the variant run.” – N.E.

THE STORY OF TRICK ‘R TREAT
Starring Anna Paquin, Baker, and Cox, Trick ‘r Treat was Dougherty’s directorial debut when it was filmed in 2007. Although never released in theaters, the movie became a cult classic through its release on DVD, digital platforms, and extensive play in festivals. Additionally, the film received rave reviews for its originality and ambition. The passage of time has not diminished the fan fervor for this horror classic, which continues to achieve a life of its own with each new technology, but has never been seen in theaters – until now
Dougherty’s story takes place in a small Ohio town on All Hallows Eve where four interwoven tales – including a high-school principal who moonlights as a vicious serial killer, a college-age virgin who’s saving herself for that special someone, a woman whose hatred of Halloween is only exceeded by her husband’s love of the mischievous holiday, and a callous group of teens who carry out an unforgivably cruel prank – delivers the kind of chills that can only occur on the darkest day of the year.
“I was very honoured to be asked to illustrate a poster for Trick ‘r Treat. It’s a wonderfully clever and surprising Halloween film with such an iconic creepy little guy at it’s center. I loved the interweaving storylines, it reminded me a lot of Creepshow, which I loved as a kid. I wanted to put as much of the story as I could on the page, giving the image a comic-book touch with the background panelling, and adding a special frightening touch to Sam. Turn the lights off and you’ll see…” – James Fosdike

Reel FX Animation Studios, an award-winning animation studio in Dallas, TX and Santa Monica, is releasing its first feature length animated film, Free Birds (in theaters November 1). Free Birds is a buddy comedy about two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks who must put aside their differences and travel back in time to take Turkey off the Thanksgiving day menu!
Directed by veteran Pixar animator and director, Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!), and starring Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler as well as George Takei, Free Birds should be a among one of the best family animated films of this holiday season! The film’s screenplay was also written by Hayward and producer Scott Mosier (Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy). Aron Warner (Shrek), Reel FX’s President of Animation is an Executive Producer along with John J. Strauss and David I. Stern. Free Birds is distributed by Relativity Media.
“As soon as I was contacted about creating a poster for Free Birds, I knew the project was a perfect fit for me. Projects for animated movies are always a joy to illustrate in my style, and this was no exception. I found the sci-fi and time traveling elements of the film extremely exciting, and decided that juxtaposing those themes against the warm autumn scenery would make for a unique poster that celebrated the imaginative world the film creates. In addition to the usual amount of detail I like to put into my work, I also tried out some new halftone patterns for the gradients and textures which I hope will make the final product that much more enjoyable to see in person opposed to just viewing a jpeg on screen.” – Graham Erwin
