Gallery1988 (Melrose) is proud to open “[adult swim] x G1988” this Friday, January 13th, kicking off the location’s 8th year with a bang. 100 artists will create paintings, prints, sculptures and one-of-a-kind plush, all inspired by shows, characters and iconic imagery from various [adult swim] shows. Whether it’s Venture Bros., Robot Chicken, Harvey Birdman, Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Good Job!, Metalocalypse, or Aqua Teen Hunger Force, this roster of incredible artists have really honored these beloved properties with some of the best work we’ve ever shown. The opening reception, with many of the artists creating for the exhibit in attendance, will run from 7-10 PM, this Friday. The show will run through Feb. 4, 2012. Emory Douglas, known for his revolutionary graphic artwork in The Black Panther newpaper, will have a print available titled “My Daddy’s Gun” via Spoke Art. It is an 18″ x 24″ Screenprint, edition of 100, and cost $50.
It will be first available in person at their one-night exhibition of newspapers from the sixties underground press (Friday 1/13, 6pm-10pm), and then on sale the following day on Saturday, January 14 sometime in the afternoon HERE.
