“Where I Rest” by Audrey Kawasaki

Audrey Kawasaki surprises us today with a new print for sale at her online store titled, “Where I Rest”. The OG painting was first seen August 2011 at her exhibition Restlessly Still at the Merry Karnowski Gallery in Los Angeles, CA.

“Where I Rest” is a 15″ x 22.5″ Giclee, signed open edition, and cost $80. This one shoots up to near the top of my favorite Kawasaki prints, so nice! On sale now HERE.

    • No problem! Ever since I saw this piece at her gallery exhibition, I was hoping that she would make this into a print. Was surprised to see this available in her store with no on sale announcement (unless I missed it). The open edition is a nice treat for a change, less stress on this drop!

      • Yep. I even checked her blog and facebook just to see. She didn’t even send out a newsletter email. In any case, I’m very happy that I managed to snag one of these prints. By the way, any idea how long Open Edition prints go on for sale?

        • Good question. I wondered the same in terms of the length of duration of an Open Edition. As far as I know it’s indefinite, endless. It’s up to the artist though. I’ll let you know if I find out anymore info. As far as I know, this is her first Open Edition. Correct me if I’m wrong here though. Such a great image, edition size doesn’t concern me in this one.

          • You’re right, as far as I know. I’ve only seen her do either a set limited edition or timed edition but never an open one. I’m guessing a few. I’d understand selling a signed open edition if it were another artist but not Audrey. The demand for her work is usually pretty high so it’s definitely unexpected. However, you’re right about the print being great. So far, this would be my third Kawasaki print.

  1. Also, for some reason, the song “Down In A Hole” by Alice In Chains plays in my head whenever I look at this piece. lol..is it just me?

    • This would be my 3rd Kawasaki print too. This one, “Enrapture” and “Charlotte”. ISO “Two Sisters” and “Saying Goodbye”. AIC is a great band, I can see that song being pretty fitting for this piece, hehe. Damm AIC was a super dark band.

  2. I just bought Saying Goodbye 2 days ago for a “decent” price. Burned a hole through my wallet but it’s worth every penny. Going to buy Memai in a few months as well if the print is still available from the seller.

The piece and the title of it makes me think of a burial – which, to me, only adds to its appeal lol. I guess, that’s why I think it fits so perfectly with the song. =)
