I was inspired by the rich history of the peach orchards in Johnson County Arkansas (479 area code). The elevation of the Ozark Mountains supports the growth of this juicy yellow-fleshed fruit. Just a short distance off of old Highway 64, peach lovers can still stop by an orchard to pick their own fruit right off the tree. Or you could attend the annual Johnson County Peach Festival to participate in the peach pit spitting contest. I chose to use a vintage peach label to pay homage to the time when this fruit was king in Johnson County. – Tammy Harrington
Clarksville has great peaches, but the area code didn’t change to 479 until quite recently maybe 2001? So I wonder if the artist is local, or just young. Historically it would have been 501 “at the time when this fruit was king in Johnson County”
