This week at Bottleneck Gallery will be the much anticipated glow in the dark exhibition titled, When The Lights Go Out. Using glow in the dark inks, over 60 artists will be submitting pieces that cover a wide variety of topics. To present their pieces in the gallery, the entire place has been outfitted with black lights. The results are incredible. Glow sticks will be on hand as well. This is a super cool show everyone, if you’re in the area, this is a must go!

Camilla d’Errico has a new print available titled, “Superficial Substances”. Camilla is choosing a new print image to release in the month of each convention she goes to, and choosing an organization/charity she feels very strongly about to donate 50% of proceeds of the sales of each of that specific print collected for the whole month it is featured, to the organization at the end of the month.
For this month of April, 50% of the proceeds for “Superficial Substances” will go to Ocean River Institute. The Ocean River Institute provides individuals around the world with specific opportunities to make a difference saving wildlife, protecting ecosystems, in environmental education, science, and conservation.

This weeks print from Warpaint Press is “Our Lady of the Dead” by Dan Mumford. Warpaint Press releases a new print at the beginning of every week and really seem to be hitting their stride. Thinkspace Gallery is pleased to present Heavenly Creatures, featuring new work by acclaimed Australian artist David ‘Meggs’ Hooke. Renowned for his founding work and involvement with the Everfresh Studio collective – established in Melbourne in 2004 – Meggs has been a prolific street artist and exhibitor for over a decade. Distilling his inspiration from an amalgam of pop cultural references, ancient mythology, classical imagery, and street art, Meggs’ recombines familiar imagery to explore and reinvent the archetype.
Concurrently on view in the Thinkspace project room is Elegant Universe, featuring new work by Dutch artist Handiedan. Handiedan creates elaborate three-dimensional collage pieces from a cut and paste method of re-assemblage. Starting with the iconic imagery of the vintage pin-up girl, popularized in the 30’s, the artist creates complex images from a combination of pattern, figurative imagery, and symbol. Her materials are culled from a vast array of printed cultural currency. Appropriating everything from postage stamps, and legal tender, to origami paper patterns, and historical sheet music motifs, the artist’s work is a combination of re-design and aggregation. Her multi-layered compositions transform found two dimensional imagery, literally re-imagining it in relief.
