Artist Proofs (APs) of these sold out prints have been made available. They are both hilarious takes on classic Disney characters in very un-Disney like moments. It’s an Art World

Since it’s Labor Day Monday, I’ll cheat a bit and say it’s still the weekend. Recent news popped up that is causing a stirring to all Van Gogh fans. Apparently a painting surfaced a few weeks back that is supposedly a full portrait of none other than Vincent Van Gogh. You know the artist that did:

The painting was initially bought by a couple at an auction in France 18 months ago for 1,700 euros. When the couple first saw the painting they had their suspicions and took a risk and bid for it. This painting, signed by a relatively unknown artist named Jeanne Donnadieu titled the back of the painting “‘L’Incompris'” or “The Misunderstood”. Quite fitting for our famous artist yes? Since then they have contacted various experts in the art world in an attempt to confirm the identity of the man in the painting with many experts concluding that it was likely to be him. The most positive confirmation came when they dug a bit deeper about Donnadieu and found that she lived four doors away from Van Gogh. Wow!

Gallery 1988: Garbage Pail Kids Prints

Gallery 1988 @Melrose, CA had the opening of their Garbage Pail Kids show tonight. What they did was they got a whole bunch of artists together and did a reinterpretation of many of your old time favorite Garbage Pail Kids when you were young. The results are very interesting. For minimal art to be done well, it needs to have a sense of wit to it. “The Dark Side” by Simon C does just that. I didn’t notice it upon first looking at it, but with a second look I got that “ah-ha!” moment. Take a look! This print can be ordered in many different sizes and options (framed, canvas). I think this is my favorite of the week. John Doe is set to release a new print today titled “Miss Universe”. Endearing print. There are two versions, a regular (Ed of 150, £65.00 $105US), and a multi-colored (Ed of 25, £95.00 $153US) version. Both are 360 x 1024mm 2 colour hand-pulled screen print (metallic silver/gloss white) on black Plike 240gsm paper, and the multi-colored version has its planets hand painted. They go on sale Friday September 2nd, at 4pm BST (8am PST) HERE.
