Spoke Art presents: Joshua Budich in ‘Otaku Obscura’

Spoke Art is proud to present the debut solo show of Maryland-based print artist Joshua Budich. Entitled Otaku Obscura the exhibit is a colossal tribute to the some of the greatest Japanese animated films of all time. Working within the constraints of six notable titles: Akira, My Neighbor Totoro, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, Princess Mononoke, and Cowboy Bebop, Budich has managed to create a wide ranging and inspired homage to the diverse history of the medium.

Comprised of character portraits, reimagined locales, and notable scenes from his favorite works, Otaku Obscura is a chance for Budich to acknowledge the anime he
loves while simultaneously adding to their legacy with his own artistic interpretations.

Otaku Obscura debuts Saturday, October 4th from 6PM – 10PM, the artist will be in attendance. The exhibit will be on view through October 24th.

Please join Bottleneck Gallery as they gear up for their next exhibition, Turtles In Time – An Official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Exhibition.

The opening reception will be this Friday, October 3rd from 7pm-10pm at 60 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11249. The entire exhibition will run until October 26th.

Admission for the show is free and open to all ages.

Pizza and drinks will be served as well as a bunch of incredible giveaways from Nickelodeon and Kidrobot that will be handed out throughout the night.

Brian Methe in ‘Small Faces’ @ Rock Paper Scissors Gallery

Brian Methe (bMethe) is pleased to announce his first solo show of original drawings and prints opening in Cincinnati, OH on Friday September 26th (6pm-10pm) at Rock Paper Scissors in historic Over the Rhine. Entitled Small Faces the show will feature 13 new original drawings and prints spanning the worlds of music and popular culture. There are a very limited number of variants available for each print.

In conjunction with the opening Brian will also be attending the Wishlist Foundation Fan Pre-Party and Fundraiser for Cincinnati Pearl Jam show on October 1st at the Beer Sellar in Newport, KY. He will be signing and doodling prints and have a small selection of prints from the solo show.

Guzu Gallery Presents: Deep Cuts 2 – 12″ Tributes to Our Music Heroes

Austin, Texas…the “Live Music Capital of the World.” On any given night you can find live music playing up and down the streets of downtown Austin. Add to this the annual music festivals and rich history of the city’s music scene and you begin to understand where Austin gets its well-deserved moniker. This fall, Guzu Gallery pays homage to its hometown’s strong musical tradition with a sequel to last year’s successful music-themed art show, Deep Cuts.

Guzu asked each artist to tribute a beloved music icon, cult hero or legend in the form of an album-sized screen printed poster. Each print will be sold for $25.

The opening reception will be on Friday, September 26th from 7 to 10pm and the artwork will remain up through October 20th. There will be live music by Austin dream pop trio, Yum, and indie rock quartet, Antiques, on opening night. Complimentary beverages will be provided by Hops & Grain and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Admission is free and all ages are welcome!
